Rio Negro

Rio Negro refers to Black River. It is identified as the largest black water river in the world. During the dry seasons it is navigable for 450 miles above its mouth for four feet of water. In the wet season, it overflows the country far and wide, sometimes to a breadth of twenty miles for long distances, and for 400 miles up.
