Introduction

South Africa is a country which does not have enough much water, because is one of the developing countries which struggles with events such as drought and flood. Therefore, in order to control the flows of the natural water from the streams, various dams have been built. Dams and reservoirs play an important role in the economy of the country. Some of the roles include protection from the floods, conduct hydro-electricity, supplying of water to the residents by municipalities and also for irrigation. Although South Africa is regarded as that having enough water but different dams with different purposes are found. Some of the dams found in South Africa include Spioenkop, Sterkfontein, Vaal, Erfenis, Allemanskraal, Bloemhof, Graasridge and Vaalhaart and P. K. le Reoux.
